Univesities using the internet

More and more universities are positioning themselves online and taking advantage of web 2.0 sites to boost their profile and broaden their student base. A number of universities, including Sussex and Harvard, have campuses on second life – the virtual world online, and the Open University has just launched its own channel with more then 300 videos open to students and the public.
The number of distance students is increasing rapidly as the internet makes it easier to learn from home and this channel represents the next step in bringing distance learning to the people.
