Inepro Single Card Solution with Christelijke Hogesschool in Ede, the Netherlands

March 2009 Single Card Solution:
Following a major renovation in 2007, The Christian College in Ede seeked to update the existing chip card based system for a multi-application card solution that could perform payment and registration for various purposes around the Campus with the same user card. The college needed a reliable solution due to the age of the existing system with faster payment methods and centralised control for updating product pricing and better reporting.

With 3,500 students, the CHE is a large education establishment:
Managing the students and staff facilities with the previous smart card system had become hard work. The previous, now outdated cards were used within the environment and the system was not entirely free of operational problems, which became more frustrating for students and administrator as payment for food & beverage could not be conducted quickly during short breaks.

Contactless Cards:
The CHE acted on the advice of other educational establishments and contacted Inepro. After a brief consultation it was concluded to abolish the chip card based system and install a completely new solution using
Mifare contactless cards, proving more reliability with no mechanical moving parts within devices and speed of payments as the main features.

Rapid Payments:
Inepro has installed a comprehensive solution within the Campus. The issued student cards can be reloaded with value using cash or chip&pin payments within the installed Guest Kiosks. The canteen catering system has been updated with touch screen EPOS terminals providing minimal waiting times, the contactless Mifare card
ensures rapid processing of the payments. Mifare card readers are also installed within vending machines and at print / copy devices within the library. Provisions have also been allowed for visitors and contractors who can
independently buy pre-paid cards from the Guest Kiosks to make cashless purchases whilst on the campus and obtain change for any unused credits. The administrator can easily program the required operational parameters, subsidies, prices or obtain clear reports from centralised software (iBos) for specific groups or individual’s budgets.

Card Printing and Access Control:
The CHE has been further provided with a complete facility of printing student and staff ID on the cards with the installation of a card printer. All the installed Hardware is networked and incorporates access control using the same user card. A card can be blacklisted if lost by the administrator within the centralised software (iBos).
