New University Building Opened
12th May 2008![]()
The Minister of State for Schools and Learners, Jim Knight, recently opened a new £12 million Education and Teaching building on the Walsall Campus at the University of Wolverhampton.
The new School of Education and the Institute for Learning Enhancement accommodates more than 1,100 students, featuring specialist teaching facilities and a 250-seat lecture theatre.
Mr Knight was given a tour of the building and met students and staff, commenting: “This is an excellent building which fits the excellent work going on in the School of Education. It is great to come to an institution that is doing such a good job in training teachers.”
University Vice Chancellor, Professor Caroline Gipps, said: “The University of Wolverhampton is committed to providing an outstanding learning environment for staff and students.”
Free IT facilities, a relaxed environment and the Fairtrade food outlet ‘Go Eat World’ will benefit students greatly in the innovative social learning space.
The University’s Institute for Learning Enhancement (ILE), led by new Director, Dr Glynis Cousin, collaborates with academics to strengthen educational research, curriculum innovation and work-based learning across the University.
