Higher Education and the Health Services Conference

06/25/2008 - 00:00
06/25/2008 - 23:59
Etc/GMT

This conference takes place on Wednesday 25 June 2008 at The British Library, London, and will focus on meeting workforce needs for the health service. Universities make an essential contribution to the NHS by educating future healthcare professionals. The NHS and social care sector spend more £5 billion annually on staff training and development. Matching supply and demand between Higher Education and health services is one of the most important challenges for both sets of institutions in the coming decade. Planning to avoid future disruption or shortfalls of professionals educated with higher level skills is essential to the well being of universities, health services and the public they serve.

This national conference for Higher Education and health service leaders and senior managers will set out the new landscape emerging in higher education provision for health services, professional and management development and examine how to strengthen collaboration between the health and education sectors.

Responding to: the implications of the Leitch agenda and the Tooke Review; the continuing requirement for best value and utilisation of resource; and looking forward to the Darzi report, policy makers and leading thinkers will set out the changes needed to meet the new demands from a changing health service and provide stability for higher education providers.
