Demographic changes afoot
14th July 2008Planning for the future is essential to universities seeking to maintain their current boon. But what will the future look like and could the changing shape of the sector present any difficult situations?
In a report presented top the house of commons last week, Universities UK suggest some of the potential shifts that could result from current trends and policy. The most threatening shift predicted is that the number of 18–20 year olds in HE will fall sharply between 2009 and 2019. However, it is predicted that the deficit will be largely filled with older students.
