Elevation Networks Officially Launches with Canary Wharf Event

Elevation Networks (EN), a student-led social enterprise, held their official launch event last night at Barclay's PLC headquarters in Canary Wharf. EN aims to bridge the gap between employers and students from underrepresented groups through the creation of a comprehensive networking platform. The event provided the perfect opportunity for EN members to speak with leaders from a wide variety of industries.
The guest of honour of the evening was Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones, a businessman best known for founding the Black Farmer range of food products.
Additional speakers included Bellavia Ribeiro-Addy of the National Union of Students Executive Committee, and Derek Walker, Head of Campus Recruitment for Europe and Asia at Barclays Capital, who are also one of the sponsors of the initiative.
According Samuel Kasumu, Director of Elevation Networks, "by getting involved with Elevation Networks, organisations can access a rich talent pool. We're taking advantage of online resources such as Facebook to bring aspiring young students together and then connect them with organisations that are passionate about supporting such motivated individuals."
EN targets young people from backgrounds where the opportunity is not being fully utilised and appreciated - groups such as ethnic minority communities, lower profile universities, women and people with disabilities. Through the concept of networking they seek to propel young people into their future careers, whether as young professionals or as budding entrepeneurs.
